Wales successfully passed its third stage of the path to re-opening yesterday, allowing gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools to reopen in Wales after lockdown restrictions were eased further.
The easing of coronavirus measures comes as Wales was moved to Alert level 3.
Organised children’s indoor activities and indoor adult fitness classes also resumed from May 3, and two households are now allowed to form an exclusive bubble and meet indoors.
All shops, including close contact services such as hairdressers and barbers re-opened in Wales on Apr 12, and travel in and out of Wales is now permitted.
Additionally, pubs, restaurants and cafes reopened on April 26 to serve customers outdoor, but hospitality will not be able to open indoors until May 17, along with tourist accommodation. Outdoor sports facilities such as basketball and tennis courts and golf courses are able to reopen.
Self-contained holiday accommodation are also permitted to reopen, following the dropping of the ‘Stay Local’ message. Outdoor entertainment venues such as funfairs and theme parks are also able to open their doors.
Organised outdoor activities for up to 30 people are allowed to take place and wedding receptions for up to 30 people are also permitted outdoors.
From May 17, it is expected that indoor hospitality and all tourism accommodation will be able to reopen and inter-household mixing indoors will be permitted. Hotels in Wales should also be able to reopen before the spring bank holiday at the end of May.
The next review of the coronavirus restrictions is due by 13th May.
